Binchotan charcoal filters are a highly effective water purifier that has been used in Japan for over 500 years. It works to purify water through its microporous structure which removes toxins whilst also releasing healthy minerals like calcium and magnesium.⁠ To use, bring a pot of water to boil and allow the stick to boil for 10-15 minutes. Let the stick cool then add to your container of water. The charcoal will take about 4-8 hours to filter or leave overnight. To refresh, simply boil again for the same time every 3 weeks, for 4 months.
